Young
people have a lot to say. WFA has a wealth of experience and
excellent New Media tools and techniques to give young people a voice,
sharing their ideas, experiences and aspirations with a wider audience
through the dynamic and creative process of film-making. In the process
they gain interpersonal & educational skills and become better
equipped to question the staple diet of programmes fed to us every
day on "the
box". The
impact of WFA's 8 films under the First Light Studio Award between
2002 & 2004 is still being felt today with 'You Me and Everyones'
screened at London Disability Film Festival and the Finnish Disability
Film
Festival in Helsinki. 'We are from Sudan' at Film4Lives in Sheffield
& as an EXODUS Short during Refugee Awareness Week & 'Wanna
Be Heroes' at Vallecas Purta Del Cine Festival International de Cine
y Video Experimental
in Madrid, Spain.
WFA also collaborated
with Commonwealth Film Festival in the animation workshop 'Get Animated'
and with local primary schools at Oldham City Learning Centre where
the young people created films & animations themed on 'Dreams' with
a screening as part of the festival.
WFA's collaboration
with Creative Partnerships to give school children the opportunity
to develop their potential, creativity and imagination gave rise to CLICT (Creative
Learning using ICT) with teachers & children
from 8 schools building the confidence and skills to use ICT ceatively
in the curriculum. Chris Finn from Creative Partnerships summed it
up "...children from the age of five up experiencing the high end of
digital art and they've taken to it like a duck to water...it can really
make the curriculum come alive". |

Recognising and celebrating
young people's achievement is integral to WFA's work - we offer C&G
and GMOCN accreditation with awards for achievements in creative film-making
& production based training. We can be flexible in meeting a range
of requirements - base and outreach work with portable kits, evening
and weekends, from small to large scale developmental projects, tailormade
workshops for individuals or groups in a wide range of subjects including
developing & delivering a project & software based training.
WFA has developed a
series of In-set training days for teachers, designed to give them confidence
and skills in the creative use of Digital Tools & ICT.
If you are working
with young people and wish to find out more about our work, contact us for
